Franz Kraler Gold Sponsor of WinteRace 2023: The Tenth Edition from March 9 to 11 in Cortina d’Ampezzo

Seventy crews have been admitted to the regularity race: 45 historic cars, including the "fierce" 1969 Mustang Mach I by Alexander Kraler, and 25 iconic vehicles from automotive history from 1976 to today. They will compete in 2 stages, covering a total of 400 kilometers between Italy and Austria, with 60 timed trials they must complete to have their names written in the event's Hall of Fame.

Cortina d’Ampezzo. Everything is ready for the tenth edition of the WinteRace, a regularity race for 45 historic cars and 25 prestigious and iconic vehicles, scheduled to take place between Cortina d’Ampezzo and the Dolomite roads from March 9 to 11.

“The WinteRace,” recall organizers Rossella Labate and Stefano Sangalli, “is listed on the calendar of the A.S.I. (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) in the name of the Veneto AutoMoto d’Epoca Giannino Marzotto Club. The crews we have admitted will bring cars representing 12 automotive brands. We are pleased to highlight the participation of pre-war cars such as a 1925 OM 665 Sport and a 1927 Bugatti Type 37, and among the Icon vehicles, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the brand, there are as many as 7 Aston Martin DBX 707s, the most powerful SUV in the world. We are also proud that the WinteRace continues to be appreciated internationally: this year, competitors are coming from Mexico, Chile, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. We are ready to experience with them the emotions we have tried to evoke with the WinteRace, and that they will certainly be able to generate.” The start of the first stage is scheduled for Friday, March 10, from Corso Italia in Cortina d’Ampezzo, starting at 09:00. During the first stage, there will be crossings of five passes: Falzarego, Valparola, Gardena, Campolongo, and Giau, before finally returning to Cortina d’Ampezzo at 17:30. Naturally, stops are planned at locations that align with the glamour of the WinteRace. In Val Gardena, coffee will be enjoyed at Chalet Gerard, while lunch will be served at the Oste Scuro restaurant in Bressanone, where the cars will park in Piazza del Duomo, and from where the crews will then depart to visit the Abbey of Novacella. The crews will then follow a route that will take them through Chienes, Casteldarne, Corvara, Passo Campolongo, Arabba, Livinallongo, Colle di Santa Lucia, before tackling the final challenge of the steep climb to Passo Giau just before the finish line in Cortina on Corso Italia.

The stage will end with a cultural moment reserved for event participants only, who will have access to the exhibition of iconic covers of the international magazine Harper’s Bazaar set up at Franz Kraler in Corso Italia 119. The second stage of the WinteRace will start on Saturday, March 11, at 09:00, again from Corso Italia in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The route will develop along Italian and Austrian roads. After starting from Cortina d’Ampezzo, the cars will reach Dobbiaco, where some timed trials will take place within the park of the Cultural Center. After leaving Dobbiaco, the cars will continue to San Candido, then cross the border and pass through Sillian in Austria (with a coffee stop at Loacker), before arriving in Lienz around 12:00, where they will be greeted by costumed figures. Timed trials are scheduled before and after lunch, which will be served at the five-star Grand Hotel Lienz. The return to Cortina will then include transit through Sankt Justina, Strassen, Sillian, and a stop in San Candido around 15:00. The crews will receive a special South Tyrolean-style welcome. After departing again, the cars will pass through Dobbiaco once more for the final trials. After the climb to Lake Misurina, the arrival on Corso Italia for the final parade is scheduled to begin at 16:30, with a public presentation of the cars. The event will conclude on Saturday evening with a gala dinner and the Awards Ceremony at the Grand Hotel Savoia.
